The number of men and women who contracted marriage is not equal because the number of contracted marriages, where the parties are a woman living permanently in Finland and a man living permanently abroad is different than that, where the parties are a man living permanently in Finland and a woman living permanently abroad. The number of divorced men and women is not equal because the number of divorces, where the parties are a woman living permanently in Finland and a man living permanently abroad is different than that, where the parties are a man living permanently in Finland and a woman living permanently abroad.

Marriage rate, per mille

Persons having contracted marriages per 1,000 non-married and not in registered partnership persons of respective mean population aged 15 or over. The figure is calculated only for opposite-sex marriages.

First marriage rate, per mille

First marriages per 1,000 single persons of respective mean population aged 15 or over. The figure is calculated only for opposite-sex marriages.

Remarriage rate, per mille

Remarried persons per 1,000 previously married persons of respective mean population aged 15 or over. The figure is calculated only for opposite-sex marriages.

Divorce rate, per mille

Divorced persons per 1,000 married persons of respective mean population aged 15 or over. The figure is calculated only for opposite-sex marriages.

Persons who resided permanently in Finland on the day the marriage was contracted (opposite-sex couples).
