Type of funding

Categorizes an observation as a non subsidised or government subsidised apartment.

Number of rooms

The number of rooms is the number of rooms in a dwelling. Kitchen is not counted as a room. Dwellings with at least three rooms belong to the category 3h+.

Area

Regional classification for rents of dwellings, base year 2025. Data for the whole country does not include Åland. The sub-areas of cities are based on the classification of postal code areas according to the price level and location of old dwellings in housing companies

Housing Rent Index (2025=100)

An index is a ratio describing the relative change in a variable (e.g. price, volume or value) compared to a certain base period [e.g. one year]. The index point figure for each point in time tells what percentage the given examined variable is of its respective value or volume at the base point in time. The mean of the index point figures for the base period is 100. The index calculation is based on monitoring the rents of the same dwellings over time. This takes into account the quality differences of the rental dwellings at different points in time. For the asking rents, the comparison is made with the average for the same area and number of rooms from the previous year.
